Dear Parents,
The grade 4 and 5's have been working on fractions. Today we worked on finding equivalent fractions through the use of water and measuring cups. Something that you could do at home to work with your child is to have them help you while you are cooking and baking, Have them measure out ingredients for you. For example, if you want to use a cup of dry pasta, have your child measure out a cup using different measurements such as four-fourths rather than saying one cup. Ask them if they know any other fractions that they can use that would equal one whole.
